KARA, a name derived from the Greek word "chara" (χαρά) meaning "joy," was a South Korean girl group formed by DSP Media in 2007. Initially conceived as a quartet, the group consisted of members Gyuri, Seungyeon, Nicole, and Sunghee. They debuted on March 29, 2007, with their first studio album "Blooming," presenting a sound that, while showcasing youthful energy, didn't immediately catapult them to the forefront of the competitive K-pop landscape.
